Joaquín obtained his Law degree with honors from the Law School of Universidad de Costa Rica. Co-author of the undergraduate thesis titled: “Poder de Dirección y Control con Énfasis en Monitoreo y Vigilancia”, which was passed with distinction by the thesis grading committee.
He has worked for our Firm since 2005 and became a partner in 2012. He is a Labour Law specialist from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, and has a master’s degree in Labour Law and Social Security from Universidad Estatal a Distancia.
He is a professor of Labour Law at the Universidad of Costa Rica’s Law School and Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. He also serves as a professor in the master’s Program in Labour Law and Social Security at Universidad Estatal a Distancia. He is a member of the Labour and Employment Law Committee of the Costa Rican Bar Association.
He has been recognized by Chambers&Partners as leading labour law attorney in Costa Rica for years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
He has participated as speaker in seminars and congresses on labour law topics, both locally and internationally, and is a permanent collaborator in labour topics for elempleo.com section of La Nación newspaper. As an expert in labour matters he is consulted by the Costa Rican media on a regular basis.
